Google pays tribute to RP

No less than Internet search giant Google paid tribute to the Philippines, with a custom interface commemorating the 112th anniversary of the country's independence.

The home page of Google's Philippine site was changed on June 12, replacing the usual logo with custom artwork styled to resemble the Philippine flag. The second "o" in the Google logo featured eight rays and was surrounded by three stars, similar to the sun motif in the Philippine flag:

The custom artwork applied to both English and Filipino language versions of the Google Philippines site. Google's English-language main site still featured the standard logo.

Google is known to customize its home page to mark special occasions.

Recently, Google marked the 30th anniversary of the iconic video game Pac-Man by placing a playable Pac-Man game on its home page, with the maze spelling out the word "Google."
